Lancaster Junction Trail

I checked out a new running trail this morning: The Lancaster Junction Trail. It’s just off the Salunga exit of Rt. 283. I’d noticed the entrance of the trail several times when heading towards Harrisburg.

The trail as a nice little parking area that includes restrooms. The trail claims to be 2.5 miles long, but my GPS as it closer to 2.3. It’s a flat gravel path that’s fine for running, walking, biking, and even horses. (There was ample “evidence” that horses had been on the trail recently.)

A good portion of the trail follows closely along Chiques Creek and along farmland. At two different points you cross over roads. The first crossing it’s prudent to use the traffic crossing button to alert drivers of your crossing as traffic is hard to see coming from really either direction. The second crossing is easier to see but traffic moves more quickly.

The end of the trail has a nice little cul-de-sac for turning around which is next to a horse farm.

It’s a nice little trail and one I plan on returning to in the near future.
