Father’s Day 2014

Yesterday was Father’s Day and I spent it as I have spent most of them over the past several years… Watching the final round of the US Open with my dad.

This family gathering was a bit different than most because instead of having a Sunday dinner at my parent’s house, we went to Cafe Chocolate on Main St. in Lititz. It was my first trip to Cafe Chocolate, which was Benner’s Pharmacy when I lived in Litiz as a kid. Benner’s would always have an ad in the Lititz Record advertising the “Only nickel cup of coffee in town.” It was a nice sunny day and we ate outside in their “back yard area” under a nice shade tree. The meal was pretty good (I can’t believe I didn’t think to take a photo…), but a little on the pricey side. I had a sandwich and salad which has some sort of chocolate flavored dressing. Mom had the same thing I had, Jeanine had something vegetarian, and Dad had a wrap and, of course, had to try their coffee which he said was “really good.”

Afterwards, we went back to Mom and Dad’s. As mentioned, my Dad and watched golf and flipped back and forth to the Philles. Martin Kaymer of Germany won easily (he led all three rounds for his first US Open win and 2nd major)

My sister made a strawberry pie which was really good… I ate so much I really didn’t want or need dinner.
